New ground cable for the Technics Tonearm

I am rewiring my original Technics tonearm. Does anyone have any experience with either rewiring and a new ground lug, or just putting in a new ground lug for the arm? If so, what did you use and what was your experience? Did it reduce hum any further, or did it remain the same?

I externally rewired my friends Stock arm with Van Damme cable, just used thin equipment wire for the earth. Not sure hum was reduced, although the VD cable was deemed better.

Mike - I am in a simlar situation to you, in that I am about to rewire a modified arm for a Techie project.
I am running Cardas 4 core 33awg screened from cartridge tags direct to my phono stage. I will strip the sheath/coax for the section running in the arm and I am considering my options for grounding. I normally run a seperate wire from the headshell inside the arm and connect this to the bundles coax screen just outside the arm and at this junction add another cable that connects to the chassis. The other end of the coax is connected to the phono stage ground point.

I am sure I remember someone saying it is better to run the arm ground wire to the PCB main ground at the corner fixing screw rather than anywhere else on the chassis, then run it from there to the phono stage, but no amount of head scratching has made me remember where I saw this.

Any veiws on the best grounding method would be appreciated.
Not that I have experienced any problems, I would just like to do it right when I get stuck in to it.
