Just perusing some things on my Squeezebox Touch, and I noticed that despite not removing it physically, the EDO function was not on.

Truth is, I'm not hearing that much, if any difference.....am I going deaf ? SHOUT UP! :)

Do you mean that it isnt on the SBT display? Advanced-3rd party applets I think. You need to reboot

I think you need to reinstall after software updates, happened to me just a couple hours ago, I couldn't work out why no music was playing!

While the difference is fairly subtle it does sound better to me.

You can set somewhere that apps will be reloaded whenever the kernel is updated. I find the EDO app makes quite a significant difference if you have a quiet DAC like the BM2 running on battery.

If you have the technical skills, installing the TT3 tools goes even further towards superb sound.

Do you mean software updates that Logitech supply?
I was under the impression that they no longer did software updates for the Squeezebox.......

I was just looking through the different options on the Touch, and noticed that despite installing EDO ages ago, it was not installed at this time.......I had definitely not removed it,
So I just reinstalled it, that's all.
Re booted many times up to this time too....

Do a factory refresh Craig, will keep your current firmware and set everything up properly.

I got a firmware update last week, so I guess they're still making small changes.

I think it depends on the version of LMS you're using.
I haven't had any firmware updates in ages, but then again the version of LMS is 7.7.1 and it's specific to Zyxel NAS devices (ie it's a stripped out version - doesn't do some of the things that Windoze based LMS can do).

I have ticked the relevant setting to ensure that EDO automatically gets installed after a Firmware upgrade but I also find it doesn't stay.

For me, it is so easy to re-install that I have never bothered going through the process of trying to understand why it doesn't work!

Paul.

Is that where you just hold on to the small button at the rear of the Touch until it shuts down and reboots itself?
Plus, and excuse me for being Mr Simple, where do I actually look to find out if firmware has been updated?
I ask as I couldn't see any reference to it on the SBT, possibly hindered slightly after a few glasses of Remy VSOP!
And what's all this kernel malarkey ? I thought they were nuts! :)
