Hi all

I have a pair of Kef Calinda loudspeakers for sale, they have had their crossovers fettled with new capacitors from Falcon Acoustics.
Just new for old as I didn't want to change their character.
Cabinets aren't too bad some marks on top but could be sanded down and re-varnished.

Some info here: http://www.kef.com/html/en/explore/about_kef/museum/1970s/Corelli_Calinda_Cantata/

pictures to follow

I can deliver these within a 50 mile radius of Chester for the price of fuel. Or meet somewhere. Collection is preferred.

£80

Nice speaker the Calinda, an update of KEF's 'C' Series Cadenza and a close relative of the evergreen 104/104AB.

At this price they should go quickly!

Some pictures as promised

I had been content with these on the end of my Quad 405 mono blocks. But had the opportunity to buy a mint pair of Kef 105 mk1 which I couldn't pass up, I'm so glad I didn't.
Those 12in bass drivers really go low and you can feel it.:)

Those are lovely.

May I enquire did you buy or make those stands? If bought, were from? If made would you share the specs?

I made them using 1in Iroko hardwood top and bottoms with 8 x 2 soft wood uprights from old scaffold boards.
They work very well, a very solid platform.
I could produce some drawings if you want.

Yeah they look really solid without being overbearing. If there were drawings kicking about that would be great! I'm not the most gifted craftsman but they look well worth a go.

If you want an easy way to make stands like this, start with something ready to go. I use kitchen worktop, beech or oak. The 40mm looks best and is solid as anyone could need. Provided you can cut joints at 90 degrees - any chop saw should do this - its dead easy to achieve a good result.

Just to show you what beech worktop looks like - no finish applied. The Quad against the wall has thinner oak tops used!!

I always like the look of those old 'Calinda' speakurz

I also liked them. Sadly, the pair I was given were just about destroyed cabinet wise and the crossovers were caput. The B200s and T27s are still doing stirling service in other speakers. Great units.

There was a bigger model called 'Cantata' ? i think, did not look as pretty imho as the 'Calinda'

Aha.....now you mention it, I think mine were those:mental: I wondered why they looked a bit narrower than I remembered!!! I think the B139 was sideways which made the cabinets much more squat. The Calindas look more elegant.

No they were upright 'B139' the same, The '104' was sideways.. Besides the 'Calinda' used an ABR

I bought a pair from Laskys in Manchester and me and my girlfriend hauled them (2 mahoosive boxes) back to our terraced house in Fallowfield on a packed rush-hour bus. Funny what you remember isn't it.

I'm even further off then, mine definitely had an ABR but memory, which admittedly ain't wot it was, tells me they weren't as slim as in the pic. Hey ho, I don't suppose the world will stop turning.

The pic Duncan posted does make them look a bit slimmer than they are possible because they are on stands. Here is the picture of the same speakers that I posted on my gallery thread - they are a lot more dumpy in the flesh - sounding good though:

Yes - I've got them. Don't mind selling them on if you really want them, I need to free up space for my meisterwerks anyway.
