I haven't seen this thread pop up yet, but enjoyed reading a similar thread last year and discovered new music. So I thought I might try and get the ball rolling:
My favourite three releases of 2013:
1. Daft Punk - Random Access Memories. I think I played this back to back at least 3 times on the first day I got it
2. Goldfrapp - Tales of Us. My first Goldfrapp album, but swiftly updated my collection with Felt Mountain.
3 Sam Lee - Ground of its Own
You've nicked my thread ;) I was going to do a Top 10 albums of 2013 tomorrow

Easy choice for me:
Steven Wilson - 'The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories)'
Steven Wilson - 'The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories)'
Steven Wilson - 'The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories)'
1- the Strokes- comedown machine
2,William Onyeabor- world psychedelic classics 5
3,Haim- days are gone
a few that just missed out on a top 3 place
Arcade Fire- Reflektor
Arctic Monkeys- AM
Queens of the Stoneage-Like Clocwork
Ooh, nice one - that time of the year again. :)
1 and 2 will definitely be Daft Punk - Random Access Memories & Paper Aeroplanes - Little Letters - the third will take a bit more rumination...
More to the point, how did I miss a new Goldfrapp album when I have everything they've ever released! Amazon here I come!
OK then, as I was going to do a top 10 I still will (no way I could pick just 3!), but not in any particular order apart from my album of the year, which is a clear winner.
Best album of 2013
Jason Isbell – SouthEastern
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41UNwT6p6CL.jpg
... and the rest, in no particular order;
Dawes – Stories Don't End
Jonathan Wilson - Fanfare
Holly Williams – The Highway
Laura Marling – Once I Was an Eagle
Steven Wilson – The Raven that Refused to Sing (and other stories)
Bill Callahan - Dream River
Emily Barker – Dear River (the Doghouse Sessions disc)
David Bowie – The Next Day
Kenny Rogers – You Can't Make Old Friends
(very near misses are this years releases from, Paper Aeroplanes, Patty Griffin, John Fullbright, Amy Speace, Zac Brown Band, Eileen Rose, John Murry, Danny & The Champions of the World and Billy Bragg).
2013 has been a rather splendid year music wise as far as I'm concerned, here's to 2014 :)
Loads of good music this year, agree about Jason Isbell, Daft Punk, William
Onyeabor albums.........
But my best 5 are:

Tricky choice, but here's my top 3 followed by the rest of my top 10 in no particular order
David Gibb & Elly Lucas - Up Through The Woods
Ghost - Infestissumam
Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip - Repent Replenish Repeat
David Bowie - The Next Day
Richard Thompson - Electric
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
Black Sabbath - 13
The Defiled - Daggers
Bring Me The Horizon - Sempiternal
NOFX - Self Entitled
I've had a think, and I have had to change this up a bit, as I have clearly missed some out. (How I missed Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip is beyond me, as it is sat on my turntable now, as it has for 2 weeks straight!
The above list is now correct until I remember some others I've missed!

This was hard, a lot of the albums I've really liked this year have been re issues but the best for me have been
Stephen Dale Petit - Cracking the Code
Lifesigns - Lifesigns
David Bowie - The Next Day
Been a very good year for music in general in think.
1. Goldfrapp - Tales of Us
2. Steven Wilson - The Raven that Refused to Sing
3. John Grant - Pale Green Ghosts
London Grammar - If You Wait
Goldfrapp - Tales of Us
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
London Grammar - If You Wait
Oh, and London Grammar certainly gets an honourable mention!

How can you guys only pick 3, I had real trouble whittling it down to only 10
How can you guys only pick 3
Mental discipline :)
My biggest problem was I kept accidentally selecting 2010-2012 albums as I don't always buy at the time of release.

I can see where you are coming from but Big Big Train's English Electric II just pipped it to the post by a hare's breath for me.
Easy choice for me:
Steven Wilson - 'The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories)'
