I've just come accross this forum. I'm pretty active on other forums but in particular, Cyrusunofficial which I joined as my main system comprised of Cyrus components at the time. Ironically after joinining (though after upgrading to Mono X amps) I started selling most of my Cyrus gear and going down the DIY route. I build two Hypex Ncore monos, bought a Benchmark DAC1 HDR, upgraded speakers to ATC SCM40s, made various cables and mains filters and have built a Vortexbox server and silent HTPC as well as modifying an O2 Joggler to run squeezeplay OS and added a linear power supply. So you could say I have got into tinkering. I've also got an AV system and a second system in the office which I have started to upgrade. I sold my Cyrus 8vs to fund the NCore build and regretted not keeping it for the second system. So reacently I picked up an 8VS2 at a decent price. I now need to upgrade the speakers which are TDL RTL2 which I bought when I was around 21.

I could go on but feel I have enough already....

Due to being a member of various forums I can't say how often I'll post on here. I will probably buy stuff of the classifieds and will try and contribute if I spot threads where I feel my views and experience may be helpful.

Sounds an interesting system and it's good to see the 'hands on' approach being adopted more and more.

What music do you enjoy?

All sorts really though very little classical. I'm never sure of getting the correct terms but from stuff like The Cure, Kings of Leon, Modest Mouse etc through to older stuff like The Police, Bob Marley and a keen interest in certain dance music from the likes of The Unabombers and chilled out stuff to late 80s/90s house and drum and bass which is mainly driven from my times as a student where I went as far as doing a bit of DJing.

Over the last couple of years I've started listening to a lot more music again and am trying to build my collection. Though I tend to buy CDs and rip them rather than download music I find the convenience of streaming and using my phone as a remote has contributed to my renewed interest.

Welcome to the AoS from me, you must be very clever electronically, I don't know an Ohm from a Watt, but I know watt sounds good :lol:

I'm not particularly clever electronically but am quite practical and enjoy making things. The hardest part of building the amps is the case design which is still in progress. They're currently in MDF mock-ups and have been for around a year!
