Hello, my name is Graeme and I am a noob and have made such a mistake.

THis is warning that if you have a party that involves quite a bit of alchohol then do not leave a nice Nagaoka Cart and Stylus on your deck, the recommendation would be to attach a cheap DJ Cart instead to save the needle being bent when your back is turned :( Obviously it was an accident but it's not a cheap accident.. :(

let the laughter and the p**s taking commence....

Mate - I feel for you. I could add the warning "lock up your turntable while the really nice, reliable teenager who is house sitting for you is left in the house". Ripped the cantilever out of my precious P205C Mk3...:(

Buy an old Minidisc player and a few discs off eBay for peanuts. Spend an afternoon putting the choice of music on discs and just use that for parties. You could do the whole thing for less than fifty quid! I use a Pioneer MD player for such things and it sounds remarkably good, dead easy to use too.

Think I may have been at this party but only went near the deck earlier in the evening....

In fact if I remember rightly didnt we leave you listening to some Zappa that night and it was sounding great as I recall, or maybe the fun really started after that lol.....

Aw man I am sorry to hear that Graeme :(

Going back a bit, yonks ago I owned a very nice (and rather expensive) Marantz HiFi stereo VCR. Whilst faffing about with it one day I discovered that audio recordings made on this unit were more than acceptable, in fact they were very good indeed. As a result I recorded quite a few party mix tapes for the use thereof. Four (or sometimes even eight) hours of non-stop, maintenance free party music was a godsend :)
