Hi All
This is the 'Wigwam' special that has had some very tasty mods added.
A former owner (more knowledgeable than I) stated:
This is a sweet, sweet, ultra musical amp that packs some wallop thanks to a chunky 35w in push-pull, and even has a pretty decent phono stage. Plenty of scope for valve rolling too as it takes EL34, KT77, 5881 and probably others as well.
These are pretty special in standard form but this one has some lovely boutique bits added (though no changes to the circuit):
It's foo filled guts contain the following:
Mundorf Silver/Oil caps at the output.
Clarity caps in the phono section and volume stage.
Noble volume pot
Tantalum resistors in key spots.
Elma silmicII electrolytic caps and Mills wirewound resistors at the cathode.
Schottky ultra fast diodes in the psu section
Some rewiring.
This is the later model with just the 4 & 8 ohm taps - But the above upgrades take it far beyond the 3 tap version IMHO!
When I picked this up in July I added the following valves at great expense
3 x Mullard yellow print ECC83 /12AX7
4 x Genalex Gold Lion KT77's
2 x Siemens PCC88
I have been reliably informed that the above line up is amongst the premier line-up for the 500.
I've probably put about 25 hours at most on the above valves.
I'll also include a complete spare set of valves.
Looking for £580 - but realistically this will need to be collected, I would consider post - but at the buyers risk. Would be happy to travel around 50 or so miles to meet for collection.
