Oh balls ! Well if a mod wants to amalgamate the two threads that's cool

Your desktop is very orderly... A bit clinical for my taste though !

I like to keep a tidy ship ;)

I do use the desktop, but I tidy it often and try not to keep much there as the O/S is on an SSD. I keep all my files orderly on a second SSD and everything is accessed easily from the bar at the top, which is very alá Apple

Its a Stardock 'Objectdock' (http://www.stardock.com/products/objectdock/) Bar and I have used one for many years now.

Yes I thought you were on Apple until I noticed the Windows logo in the bottom corner !

I tried rainmeter I think its called along with omnimo and it was much like your stardock but I couldn't get on with it so went back to the good old look for it in the start menu system... Mind you I am weird like that, I'm running Vista [yeah I know...] but have the appearance set to "Windows classic" ahh I never tire of the '95 blue & grey look :D:mental:

Ah - trifle embarrassing for the stereotype - mine is my letterhead with essential passwords and membership numbers and a few hmrc phone numbers. I figure being in picture form reduces the risk of cyber theft :(

My work PC is currently sporting this rather lovely view on its screen:

This photo was taken at Allhallows On Sea on the Hoo peninsular in North Kent. I used to live there as a kid and it was a very happy time for me. Behind me is the beach which looks out over the Thames estuary towards Southend on the far shore. I spent many a fine day during the school hols fishing this lake for Perch and Eels with my friends :)

Windows 8.1 allows the same desktop wallpaper to be used on the classic desktop and Start Screen. Nice.
My current wallpaper, of Catherine's Palace in St Petersburg, was taken on my mobile phone.

I would find it too depressing - a reminder of yet another piece of great British (and French) engineering assigned to the scrap heap!

Indeed, we could make a calendar from Concorde, Harrier, Vulcan, Black Arrow, Bentley (pre RR), Mallard, etc. No doubt Thrust SSC will add to the list soon.

Ten years last month since G-BOAF landed at Filton on the last-ever Concorde flight. :(

Just a picture of my Bay Tree. Not much on my 'entertainment' laptop, all the work crap etc. is on the other one.

A real outlaw would hardly use a desktop image to state his case :rfl:

Looks cool. One might say, if one were so inclined, to say that it looks just a little like the standard Mac dock but then that might start another discussion - so I won't say that:eyebrows:

That is quite possibly the most utilitarian desktop I've ever seen.

Yup. To be fair I don't spend much time looking at the desktop, cos there's normally apps open over it, and the most used ones are on keyboard shortcuts (win-w = web browser win-f = file browser win-t = terminal etc) most apps open with a file anyway so icon shortcuts to them are irrelevant and there's a menu of all apps and settings under the right click on the desktop.

Works really well, if you want to try it you can snag it from here: www.crunchbang.org
