I have recently purchased a Garrard 401.
It needs restoration.
Should I do it myself, or have someone else do it, e.g. Loricraft / Audio Grail?
I would appreciate recommendations for a 12" tonearm to suit.

Hi .....Raz? Is that your real name?
Welcome to AoS. How about telling us a little about the rest of your system and musical preferences?

Hi Raz, a warm welcome to AoS.

I suppose it depends on how confident you are of your capability to do the work on your 401 yourself. If so, then go for it. I really enjoyed working on my Lenco and found it very satisfying.

Whatever you decide, you have a fantastic turntable there.

Hello and welocme

A SME 3012 arm would be a age related match

Here is the official Kiwi answer to your question: Do it yourself! Get your hands dirty. After screwing up it, and regretting it all you will eventually get it done and have a good feeling of satisfaction.
