5.1 mix maybe? The BM is not designed to handle surround sound ;)

I am doubtful that burning it will improve the sound.

Is there an HD Audio two channel mix on the disk?

I don't have an answer concerning the volume on headphones, but i use Grados 125's and the volume is fine on mine! Do you use computer audio at all? Maybe the volume on your media player is low??

as far as the sacd is concerned Dave is right, you need to set the player to read the 2 channel mix for the dac to read it....else you have to use the players own processor

My Sony SaCD player can only output via the 5 analogue rca output while playing sacd. To play via BM2, i think you need to play your hybrid sacd/cd in cd mode only. Unless your player is different to mine.

it is in the audio settings though you need to be connected to tv to see the menus....easy to change at anytime. I have a analogue to amp and a spdif to dac double connection so I can get the sacd through the analogue and cd's through the external dac....saves mucking about

If you set the audio to CD instead of the 5.1 it should just play the CD tracks on the disc through the DAC to your headphones

SACD is DSD, not PCM, and often mutes the digital outputs altogether on players (certainly on my Ayre player) since outputting DSD digitally breaks the Sony/Philips design book. Those players that do send an output to the digital out when playing SACDs are down-mixing to PCM (as with my Pioneer Blu-ray player). You should either set the player to mix-down to stereo PCM or force select the stereo tracks, which are always available on SACDs.

there is usually 3 settings...1/multi channel/or 5.1.....2/ stereo, ie the 2 channel version of the 5.1 mix and 3/ CD...you want cd....the sacd is usually a hybrid cd which has the 5.1 mix and also a standard redbook cd mix on it...so you have to tell the player which to play...in your case as you want it through a dac, it would be CD.....standard Dac's cannot play 5.1 audio.

Having just read the manual all you have to do is go to settings, general, SA-CD mode & then select CD.

Simples.

you can play a hybrid sacd disc through the bushmaster but only the redbook version by setting the player audio dig out to cd(pcm)...you will then get the normal cd version although it is usually remastered so is better than the normal cd you can buy.

According to the manual, the disc tray must be empty for the SACD/digi output settings to become adjustable - Could be why it wont highlight that setting ?
