The Denon DL-160 is a high quality moving coil cartridge designed for use with standard moving magnet inputs on your amplifier. State of the art technology has been employed in the minute sections such as the traditional cross shape armature, dual construction cantilever and the vibration centre one point support method using suspension wires. This enables balanced characteristics and excellent sound quality comparable to more expensive cartridges.

I swapped a Celestron Newtonian reflecting telescope for the DL160 which originally belonged to MartinT of this parish. This example has few hours on it and sounds absolutely wonderful. It comes complete with it's original display box and packaging which, like the cartridge itself, is in excellent condition.

Nice. My favourite high output MC. I've had a couple of these and they are way more musical than the H/O Ortofons and Sumikos I've used. Also a significant step up on the DL-110.

if it is this is new too me , I thought you either had a MM or MC or a amp that has a button to select either ?

And there are also high and low output moving coils Al, the former can be used with MM inputs ;)

The DL160 works well with my DR5's phono stage switched to either MM or MC, although it sounds slightly better via the MM stage.

Any thoughts on how this compares to a DL304? I am interested as I need to replace my 304 which recently died and can't afford a like for like. Have also been looking atthe Sumiko Blue Point 2. How does the 160 stand up to these?

do you know if this will fit on a Rega RB303 (RP6 TT) with any adjustment? From the picture it looks much bigger than the cart that i currently have on (Clearaudion Aurum)?

Again Steve I have not owned a Rega arm, however I see no reason why it couldn't be fitted as long as you can sort out the VTA ;)

Ive seen quite a few 'DL110'/'DL160' on Rega arms, don't you have a set of shims for any height adjustment? £90 is a good price for a '160' & i know it's low hours because i remember Dave getting it..

Having owned both, I prefer the DL-160 by a huge margin. I found the Sumiko coarse sounding. The Denon is smoooth!

I'm not, no more vinyl front end for me as I just can't cope with using it anymore because of my condition. Basically it is just an expensive ornament so it has to go :eyebrows:

Dave, as good as I am sure your digital set up is , it pains me to think of a vinyl fan giving up the black stuff , I don't know your condition but if its causing you to give up your records (except soundtracks as I read on another thread) I would like to offer you an SL5 that I have doing nothing its in full working order reasonable condition fully auto Parallel tracker so easy to use, I will even send it to you at my expense , I,m not being a weirdo just that a recent diagnosis of my own has made me reassess things and if you could make use of it ,please do.

We might sound off at each other from time to time over the silliest things, but one thing which is undeniable, there are some amazing people right here on this forum and of that we should all be so very proud. I would like to mention a couple for now, although there are many, many more:

Jerry (Jandl100) who has so kindly lent me his Tisbury passive pre for assessment purposes (it continues to impress mightily Jerry)

Brian (brian2957) who lent me his Bushmaster 2, again for assessment purposes and who has also bent over backwards to help me with various other things and last but not least, for being a mate.

Stephen (Mr Kipling) I won't embarrass him by stating why, just to say that he has an excellent taste in music and I am enjoying listening to it immensely.

Mark (Dingdong). Without this guy I wouldn't have such an excellent system now. Far to many good things to mention here, however the poor guy has had to endure my frustrations on more than one occasion and he shouldn't have had to. Mr Impetuous indeed (see under my avatar) :eyebrows:
