What are some of the better sounding vintage receiver European brands to look for to compliment my '82 Tannoy Mercury M-20 speakers?

Tandberg, Sonab, Bang & Olufsen and Armstrong spring to mind. Some of the Goodmans 'Module' series weren't bad either.

If you want good FM reception from a European receiver, then I'd go for a Tandberg every time. They made some of the best sounding FM tuners ever and you got an amp for free!! A TR-1075 would be my choice.

Yes, I've owned a couple of large Tandberg receivers and the sound was excellent.

I'd think that, for use in the US, they'll be better than any British made unit.

Not entirely sure I agree. The 6 series Armstrongs were reliable and sounded very good indeed.

Selectivity and sensitivity are far more important to US tuner owners than they are in the UK - those things were all but ignored by UK manufacturers.

Yes I will be using mostly for fm in the US market. Is the Tandberg still a good contender? I see plenty for sale. How are the lower powered 2030 and 2045 besides the 2075?
