The music starts at the beginning

After the system upgrades I'm delighted with the extra music revealed - and finding even bigger gaps between albums - in terms of quality of recording/engineering/production.

Playing DOS with Mark E Smith earlier and very impressed with the depth, breadth and detail.
Next was With The Beatles. Great music, but flat thin, maybe even compressed.

I suppose I have to be content with what we have and be happy when hidden details are revealed in a well known album...........

Something I have noticed over the past year making various improvements in a 2 steps forward one step back sort of way is how much production differences are highlighted. Although I can see how some people would find that it can get in the way of simply enjoying the music. Possibly why a lot of us sometimes pine (rightly or wrongly) for those simple budget systems we owned when we first started out.

You just have to accept the recordings for what they are. You can't make a silk purse etc. After all, it's the music we are listening to.

When you do have a good recording, it's a bonus.

Such a difference between albums you wonder how some idiots can take money for what they do - where others should be paid 100 times for what they achieved

Some artists/groups always make good quality recordings, others only duff sounding. You'd think they all would want to make quality recordings..:scratch:

Only Ry Cooder and Neil Young come to mind as insisting on well made music.
There must be others, but how many and who controls it ?
I remember hearing that Adele has horrid sounding albums (not my sort of music at all). Wonder who persuaded her into that
