Another new guy reporting in!My name is Michael & I'm up in the North of Scotland so I can enjoy plenty of Folk Music up here and not just on my Hi-Fi. An Artist who's popular up here is Mary Ann Kennedy who if you don't know sings ( in Gaelic ) and plays the Harp with her fellow singers and players 'Na Seoid.' A good CD from her ( if you like folk ) is Mary Ann Kennedy & Na Seoid on Watercolour Music (WCMD033 ). Also singing in Gaelic is Julie Fowlis who appears up here on TV and her CD 'Cuilidh' is good to listen to.
I suppose I should really be talking about myself and my tastes in music are in the main Jazz, Classical, folk and a little rock. I admit to being around for a long time and have been lucky enough to see and hear bands like Yes and Genesis both inside and out. I was also a member at the Halle when I lived in Manchester.
My first real Hi-Fi amp was a Nytech 252 with Arc 101 speakers and a Logic DM101 deck.
These days I'm just digital and am currently running a Pioneer DVD player ( modded by the Lampizator ) feeding a Harman Kardon HD990 ( used as a DAC ) with A Goldpoint passive pre feeding an SDS 470C amp. My speakers are XTZ 99.36 Piano mk2's. Some of you may not be familiar with some of these brands but if there is any interest I may write a little more on the subject(s). I also have some kit speakers from Wilmslow Audio which can be used either passive or active with a Marchand Audio electronic X over and I run these when I fancy a change.
I will close this intro with a couple of great CD'S that I have just bought from Amazon. One is called ' Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor' by Caro Emerald and the other 'Didn't It Rain' by Hugh Laurie. I've really enjoyed both these different CD's.
