After a swift reckie of the latest venue for our next North East Bake Off i confirm that it is looking good. The Windmill is much more fit for purpose that the previous venue. It is much easier to get to from all over the North East (or indeed anywhere) being as it is on the Southbound carrageway of the A19 just outside of Hartlepool. The bar facilities are an improvement too. The Calvery smelled bloomin lovely and the staff very friendly. So, If you love music and Hi-fi why not come along and enjoy yourself. Everyone welcome. Good to hear Steve,

Might bring my deck down this time as I'm mightily impressed with how its sounding at the moment. Let me know if you need any kit or things bringing.

If any members from the Newcastle/Gateshead side need a lift let me know!

What speakers are likely to be there?

Is anyone taking a pre-amp?

Another great night Steve, really enjoyable.

Nice atmosphere and good banter all round.

Its only appropriate you posted a picture of Alan's Tascam as it completely stole the show! Just big smiles on all the faces as soon as that started up...

Hey Rich it was great to meet you and listen to your Rega speakers its a pity we didn't have more time to listen to more CDs and digital stuff, maybe we should dedicate one night just to that, I have 3 DACs I could bring down and a nice Quiet PC that sounds great in my system, I am also working on a Linear power supply for it to see if I can get a bit more from it.
Big thanks to Steve for organising the night I thoroughly enjoyed the night and the great company.
Im flattered by your compliments guys and I am really please everyone enjoyed the tape deck :) those old R2Rs are the ultimate analogue source IMO if they are in good fettle. As it happens a couple of days before I was trying to put together a compilation of Prog tracks for the night but the record calibration of the deck was not correct and I couldn't get it right for the night, Im going to have to do some homework on getting the calibration right for the RMG tape but fortunately the playback calibrated up OK and sounded good for the night.

My pleasure Alan. Yes indeed we ran out of time again. Mick had those tiny valve monoblocks i would have loved to have listened to and i missed out on a good outing with the Avondales. i would have been very happy to take them little beauty's home.
Gutted not to have heard some Prog via the tascam but hey! That's for another day. i couldn't get over just what a gentleman Les Wolstenholme is and how passionate he is. I was absolutely thrilled that he travelled all that way and stayed overnight at the venue. Nebo 4 eh? Watch this space in the new year.

I enjoyed a bit banter with Les, nice chap and no agenda. He seems to take a genuine joy in hearing all the various stuff which is exactly the same reason I go. I can hear my own stuff at home, I go to hear everyone else's gear and have my ears open for something new and a bit special.

After hearing some of Franco and Alan's implementations of his work and those monoblocks there's definitely been a bit of interest sparked in Avondale for me.

Looks like a good night was had! :) Didn't really fancy the 50 mile journey in around +1 C on the motorbike..... and the return journey even less!
This needs to be a weekend event/North East hifi Gathering....... A dream to think about anyhow... I know that Steve has bigger problems at the moment but it could be a useful diversion for his energies in the near future, and he's the man to do it judging by the NEBO I went to and the reports on this one! :)

Excellent choice of venue steve and ideally suited to our purposes. Nice and handy straight off the motorway and digs for those who might travel from further afield.

Only problem for me is I have to drive so can't enjoy a good swelly with you lot!

Why not bring Mrs B and make a night of it? I am sure we may be able to negotiate good rates for the rooms.
