Hello everyone,

My hifi is generally based on older and possibly slightly more unusual equipment, some of which I love and couldn't do without mainly my B&O 8002 t/table, I've always liked the automatic aspect of it plus that highly unusual tangentially tracking arm, which contributes imho to its great looks. Another thing I couldn't do without is my Philips CD960 cd player, dates from the 80's and a machine I still love the sound of. Next up is the Marantz PM64 amplifier (I love my bass, treble and loudness controls!), which I've had for years, one of these days though it will grow up into a Marantz PM94 (if I can find one:scratch:). The speakers are another area I'd like to change soon, B&W 605's with the active subs, but I've just bought a REL Stentor sub so there's definitely a bit of an over-exuberance of bass there, even with the bass tweaked down. I'd like to let the REL handle the sub bass and use it to supplement better speakers, so looking for Mordaunt Short Performance 6, which are a little bit brighter so may gel with the REL quite nicely.

I've dabbled in the past with vintage valve hifi, like Quad, and Leak, and do like the sound but they do need a bit of fettling to keep going plus I got fed up with waiting for them to warm up, especially if I just wanted to listen to a quick single. But I do still have a set so maybe in the future I may settle back down to the wamth of the valve sound.

My music taste is quite varied from classical to the latest chart hits, but if anyone asked me what I'd really prefer to listen to, it would be trance, which may explain my fondness for bass!
