Mc through MM phono

Im looking at maybe getting a high output MC cartridge (SAE1000 lt) its output is 2.5mv so will the phono stage in my amp be ok with that cart? Cheers

Yes, should be and would also depend on the gain in your phono amp.:)

If your amp is unable to cope with 2.5mV, I'm wondering if something like the Ortofon MCA-76 head amp would work, it accepts up to 6mV input and amplifies at 34db.
The more technically proficient amongst us should be able to say if this is a workable solution.

I use that cart into an Arkless modded phono stage set up for MM but I've also used it through my amp's MM phono stage and it was fine with that too.

However I've read that some people prefer to connect a HOMC to a MC phono stage.

It should be fine but may need the volume up a bit higher than normal as the output is about half that of a conventional MM cartridge. It should work best into an MM input rather than a MC one which could be overloaded by the high output of the cart and would usually offer too low an impedance for the high output MC.

never heard of Coral in relation to carts either! there are soooo many bits of kit out there that we never get to see or hear!

That's really interesting, I've seen that site before but I never realised that SAE and Micro Seiki were so close.

I've just taken delivery of a near mint MA-202 tonearm inc headshell both of which should hopefully work really well with the SAE 1000LT.
