yes its diluted. might need a bit more...the brush often soaks up a bit too. some old greasy records it can smear and puddle a bit, so you need to work at it a bit.

I ordered this a few times and I'm running out of the last bottle I purchased. I've looked at the eBay listing and assume it's no longer available. Does anyone know a good alternative or give me an idiots guide to mix Triton X and distilled water. The above link was far too complicated to follow!!

yep,its very gloopy so put 1 teaspoon in a jar and add 1 teaspoon of water and mix up,immersing the jar in warm water will help it mix,slowly add another teaspoon and mix again,keep going untill you have 1 teaspoon of triton to 9 of water,this is you stock solution.

to make the cleaner you use 5% of your stock to a litre of water,you can also add 5% ipa if you wish.

He'll have paid for the rights to it though so doesn't seem so unreasonable when you consider that he has got to pay that off. I doubt much gets sold too since most people heavily into vinyl make their own and those who dabble don't tend to bother with anything more than a quick brush over before cuing. Niche market at best.

After reading the thread above, looks like it's a recent thing (July 5th) so might not be for sale just yet. It would seem strange to not advertise it as the same fluid as TRO, even if not by name anymore.

just an update
ive been using my triton x based cleaner and my homemade Enzyme solution for a while now on both new and used records and for me i have to say they are doing wonders for my vinyl,i have in the past used AIVIS and the disc doctors miracle record cleaning products and i find my own cleaner much better,the money saved is huge!

so if your into your vinyl and fancy a go,trust me its worth it. :)

solution made up using 800mL distilled water, 200 mL isopropyl alcohol, 5mL Ilfotol used on a vpi clone works brilliantly

"Archive" solution recipe as used by record libraries stateside and in the UK in bygone times:

25% (max) lab grade 99.9% pure IPA;

75% demineralised/de-ionised water;

Add to this 0.5 to 1% by volume Ilford Ilfotol wetting agent (do not use older recipes such as Kodak Photoflo as the additives could leave a residue).

Personally, I'd avoid using washing up liquid as it contains large amounts of salt but a little (as in a few drops per litre) may be ok.

I see no need for fancy concoctions. I use something similar to this formula and no rinsing on my Okki Nokki. I have a Zerostat but never use it. I use a paint pad for cleaning the record. Some front ends seem to be much less forgiving to surface noise than others.

Many 'recipes' for record cleaning solution seem to be IPA based. However, I've been using a 50:50 mix of purified water and bio-ethanol with 10ml of Ilfotol in 1 litre. You can get the bio-ethanol from any DIY store - its used as a fuel for these fancy household fires - and it's pretty cheap.

Anyrate, it seems to work really well and nothing has disolved yet!! I'm sure I read somewhere that it's pretty much the same mix as recommended by Kieth Monks. I did also use a rinse of purified water for a while, but now I don't bother.
