'It's all about the music for me' is a cry we often hear. But is it true of you or are you simply, like the Egyptian fisherman, in denial? Answer the questions below truthfully and tot up your score as you go along.
Question 1
You are stranded on a desert island a bit like Tom Hanks in that film. Food and water are not a problem but all you have to listen to music is an I-pod and earbuds with your thousand favourite plays loaded. What do you do?
1) Listen happily to your tunes, just like always. Score zero
2) Listen happily to your tunes but occasionally pine a bit for your 'big rig' Score 10
3) Build a fake big rig from bamboo and coconuts, Polynesian cargo cult style, so you can look at it whilst you listen to the ipod. Score 30
4) 'What's an iPod?' 'What are earbuds?'. Score 100
Question 2
Your better half threatens to leave you if you don't sell your ugly intrusive speakers and boxes and downsize to a nice lifestyle one box solution. How do you respond?
1) 'okay I will put it all up for sale on eBay straight away' Score zero
2) 'Okay, I'll get rid of the ugly speakers and put all the boxes in a lovely cabinet' Score 10
3) 'lets compromise by moving to a bigger house where I can have a man-cave even though it will mean I have to work until I drop' Score 50

10 to 100 - yes not bad you are showing early signs of audiophilia but it is not to late to do something about it
100 to 200 - probably nothing to worry about too much for someone your age and weight but a little concerning all the same.
200-500 - you need professional help if you are going to get this under control. PM me, we'll see what we can do
500 plus - beyond help. Your condition is chronic. You might as well just go for it now as there is nothing left to lose. Log onto eBay and start buying more kit right away.
