The worlds best sausage?

I enjoy a saucisson francais. Particularly wild boar from the auvergne.
I like fancy sausages like pork & apple
The Toulouse sausage for a cassoulet.

But I think the best sausage is the one I just had with egg and chips. Has anyone else tried debbie & Andrews harrogate sausage

Accept no substitutes for the real thing.

Our friends run a Ferme Auberge out here and they have several house guests in the form of pigs, sheep, geese, ducks etc.

Sadly, from time to time, said house guests get translated to a better place. For a fair portion of of the pigs and lambs, that means my stomach:eyebrows:

When some of them return from the nice man with the hatchet, I get to help in the kitchen. They have a giant tub into which we pour mince, herbs, porridge oats and anything else that sounds like a good idea and then its mixed by my own fair hands - and wrists and elbows - and then squeezed into skins made of another part of the animal.

I have never, ever, tasted better sausages. They have one enormous advantage over shop bought too. In exchange for the produce of our nursery and for helping out at the restaurant, hatching out eggs etc, we get it all for free. Pork and lamb so fresh and tasty, the flavour lingers on in memory for weeks. The sausages are probably 90% meat which is a little above the average I suspect.

Never heard of them Richard - where may one obtain them? :)

I'm VERY fussy about sausages and only eat the best ones with the highest meat content, usually of the local variety (therefore Welsh), bought from our butcher. I'd never dream of eating the 'budget' shite sold in supermarkets, full of horrible bits of skin, fat and innards - PUKE! :spew: :spew:

I'm not a big sausage eater, by any stretch of the imagination, but I do like them sometimes with the occasional cooked breakfast - and of course in Cassoulet... ;)

Aldi does some rather nice authentic German Bratwurst, which are gorgeous done on a griddle pan and served in a hot-dog bun with some nicely carmelised onions and a dollop of Dijon mustard! That smell pervades the German Christmas markets we so love!

I've had them a few times. They're pretty good actually and I'm exceptionally fussy about sausages.
Find a good butcher!

I'm not so keen on most European sausages as the meat tends to be ground finer than my preference. However, if you've ever wondered what horse meat tastes like, go to a frik stand in Holland!

Wild Boar sausages from a little deli in Yarmouth, Isle Of Wight.... Used to take the boat over there, mainly for the sausages... yummy... and I don't normally like sausages at all :D:D
