View Full Version : FS: Asus Xonar STX PCI-E Soundcard / Headphone amp + Opamp Upgrade
Owned from new, in excellent condition and good working order. Used daily in main computer, selling due to switch to Xonar E1 USB DAC.
I also installed Asus' official opamp kit, lifting performance even further - very capable card with dedicated headphone output.
£100 + £4.99 delivery via myhermes. Will be sent in original box + accessories.
Hi Dawson,
Could we please have a picture of the actual item you are selling? This is now a mandatory requirement for all members when selling equipment on the forum, soundcards or any other computer audio-related kit, included.
If you're unsure of how to post pictures, there are guides here (http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?14874-Step-By-Step-Guide-to-Linking-to-Photos) and here (http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?2-How-to-host-and-embed-images-in-your-posts) to show you, and if you are struggling with it, then Dave (Synsei) will do it for you, see here (http://theartofsound.net/forum/showt...r-sales-thread)
Marco.
Hi Marco,
Usually that's no trouble at all but in this case the soundcard is still installed in my computer!! I wasn't going to remove it until it had sold.

I can photograph the box/accessories if that would suffice?
Regards
Dawson
Sure, no worries. That would do :)
Btw, whatever you're trying to show on pzplay.com isn't working....
Marco.
That's weird, link is working for me (that's my webspace)! I will update listing asap with photo of packaging etc...
Cool. The link works now - you must've fixed it!
Marco.
FWIW I have one of these sound cards installed on my own build HT PC on the advise of a more knowledgeable friend, but without the op-amp upgrade kit. According to the friend it is one of the very best sound cards out there, even without the op-amp upgrade. I certainly am very happy with it, playing up to 24/192 res tracks.
Dawson, would you be so kind as to post a link to details of the op-amp upgrade kit as I might be interested in buying the same for my card.
TIA,
Dave.

This is a very capable soundcard. The circuit board is populated with some rather exotic caps too... ;)
Yes it's a top quality versatile card. The e1 is better but not by far, this offers great sound at the price. The opamp kit is now discontinued sadly, try www.newegg.com for info?

You certainly do not need the upgrade kit. You can simply buy the op-amps. I put them in both my Cards. Here is a pic I took of the opamps I installed. When you look at the instructions (available from the Asus website) you will see three opamps to be swapped. I just did two; the A and B, and not the C. Can't remember where I bought mine, may Texas Instruments, maybe Farnell - but dirt cheap so it can hardly cost to do it. It is not difficult - If it was surgery it would equate to trimming your fingernails.
