Hi there!

Yet another one joining this great forum, my name is José and I do live amid the Algarve, the well known southern Portugal region.

As you may have deducted from my username, I'm also one of those who didn't part with vinyl.

Cheers, JPB

Hi Jose,
Welcome to AoS, it's nice that you joined up.
What bits and pieces do you have in your system and what do you like to listen to on it?

Cheers

Hi, Chris!

Well, "bits" is really the word that best describes my system(s) which at this moment are mostly taken apart.
Aside from a vinyl/turntable lover (listening to 80's indie, also alternative, post-rock, ambient guitar) I'm also an old-school guy and so do own a few classics, modestly priced.

Only to throw some names: a selection of Ortofon cartridges (both MM and MC), a couple of related Digitrac, ADC QLM; Rega RB300 and TT components fitted in a Split Slab kit; Linn Axis, Ariston RD80 and Townshend Avalon all on the works and awaiting for tonearms...
Amp-wise, the good old Cambridge P70 integrated and a Meridian 101 preamp awaiting for either a 103 or 105 (if not active speakers...) and do use several Heco speakers (home assembled from kits).

No hi-end over here, rather lo-profile instead, hope to refresh with something new after I'll finish all those TTs...

Cheers, JPB

That's a lovely jumble of good solid old stuff - nice!

Hi Chris!

Yes, it's certainly old and not extremely refined stuff, but still capable of sounding good, at least for the kind of music I do like...

By the way, I noticed you do have an Uher 4400 (reporter).
I still do keep a couple of those, a Variocord

and a CR 210 (also reporter but cassette) but no longer use any of those...

Cheers, JPB

Been down to Carvoiero a few times visiting relatives, good to hear from someone from the Algarve.
