Tranquil as a graveyard here... The problem is, most of you are buried too deep within suburbia!! :eyebrows:

Yep, it's been going on all evening. Quietened down a bit now. We've had this every evening for over a week now and no doubt it'll continue for another week or two till the silly bastards run out!

In our village... it's permanently the year 1958. All mobile phone networks are blocked within 100 yards from the village boundaries. The pubs are pubs and the men are... well piss heads to be honest.
Oooh.. Fireworks.. Yes, we do have a fireworks display. But we don't buy them in... OOoooooh no... A bloke down the road makes em in his garage in the summertime and we have Armageddon on the nearest weekend. But we always stand on the bridge over the canal so when they go up we get double with the reflections in the water... cool! - Then the hit the pubs...
We did have a Wicker Man one year as part of our arts festival but it fell down before anyone could give it a sculpture award.
Yeah it has been bloody irritating here tonight too… only just about stopped!!

They're at it again tonight, even more so than last night.
Seems the Indians have some sort of a do on today (yet again), so it's an excuse to make another appalling racket. Not to mention all driving round town in their cars and totally clogging the local roads, even though they all live within walking distance of the temple. And driving into any nearby private estate and using it as a free car park, as is happening here where I live right now.
Why don't you sell up Geoff and move out to the sticks. I know you've said you are retired. You can buy a 5 bed detached up here for the price of a terrace in London and it's a damn sight quieter.

I'd love to sell my council house, but that might cause a spot of bother.
Things are not too clever here anyway, the missus and I don't get on. I may end up moving out and living in Cornwall before long as I have family there.

There are a lot worse places to live that's for sure. Raised in Surbiton back when it was a genteel suburban commuter backwater, but a look at google street view recently horrified me what it has turned into. You can keep it :rolleyes:

There's not a truly decent part of London left Frank. It's a sprawling shithole now to be honest. Not one spot in it I'd choose to live in! The sooner I can get away the better.
Moving well away is the only way to find an enjoyable environment (at the moment, but the whole country is at risk of heading downhill).
Many other major towns and cities are pretty much as bad as London.

Yet another day (and night) of fireworks.
There's some sort of Indian shindig going on in Southall and the bangs and whizzes have been going on all day, not to mention all the weird amplified wailing and music from the temple a quarter of a mile away, but still loud enough to be intrusive. We've had some sort of racket and disturbance near enough every day for nearly a month now.
Oh and today you can't drive anywhere because once again half the town is closed to traffic and the local idiots have all got in their cars and seemingly as part of their celebrations they are driving round the rest of Southall blocking all the remaining roads. Charming!

I have no idea why the local authority and presumably the police give permission for half the town to be basically shut down, causing all other local roads to be clogged with traffic and impassable just for religious festivities. It never used to be like this, now we get it about eight times a year. Somebody is taking the piss!

Just go to the festival and enjoy!
The food is good and there is going to be tea and bisects.
And yes, fire works!
All the food and entertainment is free.
