I've bought myself an SL-1210 deck to use as a template / mounting deck, so now I can make armboards etc / conversion kits just by knowing the pivot to spindle distance (pretty much every arm in existence is on the Vinyl Engine database). No need for your deck to physically be here anymore.

The armboard service can now be by mail order;)

Of course if you want me to do the conversion (entails removing the rubber base - umpteen screws, unmounting the arm and fitting the blind nuts and armboard / arm / refitting / setting up, I will need the deck.

Here's a finished one on Marco's illustrious deck.

This is my 2nd SL-1210:) The first one was my deck of choice for a good long while and had a DIY external transformer and PSU that was a vast improvement over the standard items.
I sold it a few yrs back. I wonder where it is now?

I would love to see if my Graham Phantom (SME mounting) would fit on a 1200, but I think not as the VTA adjustment tower might just make it too big to mount.

Re the Graham Phantom... Could be difficult if the armbase needs to be sunken. Gets tight on space...

I've always loved that tonearm, as it just smacks of being 'proper'... Do Graham actually make it, Neil, or have they had it bespoke engineered by an outside (specialist) company?

It does have a look of Jelco's 'high-end division' about it, in the way of my Ortofon, which indeed was built by Jelco:

Please take that as a compliment, btw. When Jelco are given sufficient budget by a respective customer, they are capable of making some of the finest tonearms in the world!

It would be fascinating if Steve could manage to graft the Phantom onto your Techy, using one of his sublime looking (and sounding) ebony armboards.... :exactly:

There isn't actually much similarity between your Ortofon and the Graham Marco, other than being finished in black and silver.

Sorry, Mark, I disagree and would bet that Jelco make the arm for Graham (to their spec). To my eyes, there is definitely a Jelco influence :)

At one time the Robin arm was on their books and it was made by Jelco for them but that arm is no longer current.

I think that will be the problem Steve, its foot print is very large.

No worries, Neil. It's probably the "some bits done by others", that to my eyes smack strongly of Jelco, which is influencing my opinion. If Graham have successfully used the services of Jelco before, chances are that, if necessary, they'd do so again.

Anyway, regardless, I hope that you manage to fit the Phantom onto your Techy, as I think it would make for a fab combo! :)
