Very familiar to me. However it's near on impossible to separate say my Prog LP's from Psych LP's.

Not to me. My records are all just lumped in together. OK, the classical ones are roughly speaking to the right of the rock/jazz ones, but that's as far as I go with classification/genre ordering.

My LPs are filed as Rock, Jazz, Blues and R&B, Classical and World& Miscellaneous CDs are Classical and everything else, tapes, MDs and cassettes are just alphabetical but these are mainly production copies, press copies or demos. The Mrs. helped file them and typed the database including the catalogue numbers :) Using a copystand and camera she has now started going through the albums, recording the covers and filing the images in the database. We share the same tastes in music by and large, though sadly she does not care for opera that much. When I started filing the LPs, she said "OK you do those and I'll do the CDs and tapes :) It's impossible to overstate how much I love this woman :) :) :) BTW which film is this from?

But.. I have thought about sorting them so I guess that's something. But the guy in the video is I'm sure not a made up character.

I'm like yourself Joe cant be arsed...it does prove hard to find a certain LP though specially when you come across interesting stuff I'd forgoten about.

Nobody touches me records on pain of my boot up their posterior. Also CD's and BluRays, as my boys have a habit of beer-matting my little silver discs and I also hate having to wipe off their fingerprints. They tell me I'm paranoid, I'm not, I just suffer from OCD.:D

I don't mind who plays my records or use my HIFI, as long as they use it all properly ( shown by me first, if they don't know). I don't lend any records/CDs out these days as i cant control how they are used etc, + so many have never returned. The one time at a friends house he was playing a record, i said " who is this, its great", he replied " its Black Kangaroo, you lent it to me ages ago". More like several years, "and why didnt you return it"?. " You never asked for it back". Never again.

I've with Dave on this - if someone is able to respect me and my possessions, they can play my records.
My daughter was turning albums over for me & cuing up the Koetsu when she was about 15.

Looks like the OCD types are winning.

Lending records is a sore point. I lost two copies of LZII that way (one a first pressing) and fell out with another friend because he failed to return my copy of 'Chuck Berry's Golden Decade' after several months and more than one friendly reminder. (This was when my total record collection numbered around 50 LPs).
