View Full Version : FS: Sony TA-FB940R Stereo Integrated Amplifier
Hi guys I bought this amp during the week and whilst it's nice and very powerful I much prefer my rebuilt A&R The A60 integrated so I'm offering the Sony for sale here as this is where I got the heads up from one of the guys here.
There are a few scratches and cosmetically it ain't the best but all of the inputs work fine as does both set of speaker posts.
There's no remote or manual although there's a link to a PDF below.
The amp did come with a remote but that remote was for a completely different Sony AV system anyway it didn't operate the amp so it's in the bin.
I paid £70 collected from Stirling so I'm looking for that back plus postage to UK/Europe also happy to post this worldwide but the postage costs will be expensive realtive to the cost of the amp however entirely up to the buyer.
There's no original box but I will find something to post it in, the amp weights 10.3kilos so probably nearer 13kilos with packaging, check the link below if you want this posted abroad as these guys are excellent.
The original e-bay sale thread is below with photos but if anyone wants photos either on here or by e-mail then just get in touch.
No offers please as this is as cheap as your going to get for one of these amps.
Thanks
Tony

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you Tony, good luck with the sale though. Guys this is a mighty fine amp for the money so buy with confidence.
The ebay listing says you can return the item within 14 days ;)

There's nothing wrong with it.
There's nothing wrong with it.
There doesn't have to be anything "wrong" with it to qualify for a return. It didn't suit your system and tastes which is reason enough
Thanks for the advice guys but this is a for sale thread.
Cheers

Saturday afternoon bump, open to sensible offers guys.
Really good amp this, one thing I like about it is it produces a wide soundstage, my own amp's sound stage is quite narrow with the soundstage on the inside of the speakers but the Sony amp's soundstage is well beyond the outside of speakers which makes low volume listening very nice.

Hi James, I had a lot of interest but nothing really firm until last night when a local guy on PFM said he would buy it and came along today picked it up and paid cash.
However I had one guy on the wam definitely interested but who wouldn't commit for one reason or another so he might be interested in your amp if you advertise it on the wam.
I had a lot of interest on e-bay with six bids, 36 watchers and over 220 page views, when I pulled the advert today the bidding was at £26 with two days to go.
Seemingly another amp sold there yesterday for £46 but one of the leds didn't work on that amp.
Tony
I am glad the amp has sold Tony, I've been feeling quite bad about it seeing as it was me who posted up the ebay link :eyebrows:

Yeah that was mine ! The buyer's a timewaster so I'll be putting it up on here at a bargain price... Unbelievable considering this time last year you'd be lucky to get one for £100...

Oh don't worry about that Dave:cool:
Actually for the money it is a superb amp with loads of power which I wanted to try for my speakers which are JR149s and it did make them sing really nicely too but I listen at low volume levels at lot of the time and I felt the amp needed a bit of volume for it to sound good or at least better than my current amp.
Tell you what though the soundstage was pretty impressive, really wide and you could listen at low volume levels easily enough.
The MM phono stage is pretty decent too plus there's loads of inputs, a pretty versatile amp all in all.
Thanks
Tony

Wonder if the buyer was the same guy who was interested in mine from the wam?
PM me James.
Tony
BTW, I got my money back less about £2 ebay listing fees.
