Hi all,
I'm on the lookout for a deck to complete a little spare room system. Ideally it'll have a nice wooden plinth; something like a Dual CS5000 or an A&R is what I have in mind looks wise, but will consider anything. Budget is probably around the £200 mark tops and it would have to be posted, unless it happens to be in the Highlands.
Does anyone have something that might do?

Cheers.

AR not A&R ;)

C.J Walker 'CJ55' are good decks they tend to crop up pretty regular.

If you consider the cost of the SME 'III' thats fitted id say thats a good deal. Looks like it has an Audio Technica 'AT6006' armlift too

Thanks for that. The deck looks a touch on the tatty side, but as you say, the arm makes it a good price. Perhaps a bit pricey for me but one to mull over anyway.

One of those in mahogany would be perfect! Another one to put on my radar. Cheers.

AR "the turntable" tts are nice if you can find a good one,Ive got one,but it needs some cosmetic work...i.e reveneering around the plinth edge, otherwise runs fine..

looks like this, but as I said needs the lower plinth reveneering.....has an original AR tonearm which I believe is made by jelco

I have a Systemdek IIXE which has the separate power supply. The finish is black wood. Very good condition. All you need do is stick an arm and cartridge on and you have a nice setup. Asking £195 if interested.
Thanks
Vince

Thanks Vince, they're nice decks, but looking for something lighter coloured. Cheers

That's lovely. What arm is that? And is it any good?

Connoisseur 'SAU2' arm.. Stuart please note the platter on that motor unit is only small diameter..

Connoisseur SAU2 and no, not really. Flimsy push-on plastic headshell, and strange 45 degree gimbal bearings that make the cartridge tilt as it traverses the record. Natty way of applying bias, though.

I have a garrard DD75 if any good to you.

Can you change tonearms on turntables?

Thanks, a quick look online suggests the performance might not be quite what I'm after though. Shame, as it looks the part.

Can you change tonearms on turntables?

Have done in the past, but spare time is in short supply these days and would prefer something more 'plug and play' if possible. Precisely the reason I moved from TD160s to Technics in my main two systems once the kids came along.

Can you change tonearms on turntables?

If it's a specialist TT yes no problem..As long as the geometry is right..
