Grado reference low output cartridges.

Been wondering what these fella's are like. The wooden case seems to appeal to me. Is anyone using one or heard one?:scratch:

I had a Reference Platinum a few years ago, I've always been a sucker for a wood bodied cartridge and I also like the Grado cartridges in general. The Ref Platinum I used on a modified Rega 300 mounted on a 401 which had the prototype for the 501 motor. It had a very full detailed sound, and a very tight well controlled bass, later I moved it into an SME IV on an Orbe and it was even more detailed on the better arm, it tracked well too. I only sold it when I was offered a Koetsu by a dealer at Japanese trade price and I got 95% of the retail back from a chap in Greece via fleabay. If I had the time over again, I would keep it for the GL 78 I'm restoring, great cartridge.

Amyone remember the Goldbug Brier? That was a nice wooden cartridge from the early '80's....

I had a Grado Ref Platinum, I think, came with a Rega P3 that I bought from a guy on e-bay. The cart cost more than the deck when it was new but I didn't think much of it so sold it for about £60 to Montesqui (sp) of the parish I seem to recall.
