My setup before the latest changes (e.g. at the time of the pic I still had the Harbeth P3-ESR instead of the 30.1).

This is a less than ideal spot for the kit (it is a small landing on the second floor of our house). But it works ok with the help of some acoustic panelling, the fact that the listening takes pkace near-field as well as the fact that the space opens up further on both sides of the kit.

In addition to the speakers changing into the sligthly bigger Harbeths, the rack is going to be swapped for something more purpose built soon. So more pics when that has been done.

The McIntosh amps have gone as has the Dynavector phono stage. The deck stays as do the Harbeth (Monitor 30.1) speakers. Naim amp (SuperNait2), phono stage (SuperLine + HiCap DR) ja digital source (NDX) are on their way. The rack will finally also be replaced once the new kit arrives as will the listening chair. So things will look (and sound) a little different soon. Pics to follow in due course.

@ Tarzan: I think the Monitor 30.1's are great. I also tried the SHL5's - not only did they look comical in my tiny listening area, but I also preferred the presentation of the 30.1's. They are perhaps a tad more neutral than the big fives and I also love the refined textile tweeter on the 30's. Compared to the P3 ESR's I had previously there is more extension at both ends of the frequency range as well as more resolution - without losing that magical midrange. The 30's should also be an easy load on the amp, but I do find that the SuperNait 2 controls the mid/bass woofer better than the McIntosh monoblcks did.

Part exchanged them for the Ovators. The Harbs were great but too laidback overall for my taste - I prefer the Ovators with their better grip of the bass and surprisingly, their superior soundstaging.

Hi,

The rack was custom made for me by a local carpenter (here in Finland). I then added full and half width tempered glass under the respective Naim components à la Naim Fraim. The Fraimguards and ball bearings under the glass sheets are from Naim.
