I read some of the blurb about the designer, who did in fact work for Pioneer for some 19 years although there are no specific dates when he did

I wonder as Effem says the designer was head of R&D at Pioneer for 20 years, and then teamed up with a valve amp designer, to create a non valve, valve amp!

Listening yesterday and occasionally switching back to my resident Bakoon AMP12R, the SPEC M3 does have a very rich tone, and does seem to throw the soundstage further out into the room, there is that rel sense of the artist 'breathing ' it is extremely valve like.

Shirkazu's aim is to combine the best of valves with the best of solid state, and with the SPEC M3 I believe he has succeeded.
