These are fantastic speakers but sadly due to size and space constraints I am having to let them go - they sound superb in spite of their age and will give any modern speaker under 2k a run for it's money!
First produced back in 1979, designed by Peter Marshall and Chris Rogers. They are not unlike early ATCs, with their wide raised baffle which stands proud of the cab. They are a 3-way design incorporating excellent drivers that sound just as good today as they did back then -
10" VOLT B250 woofers (still being sold at £190 per driver!)
Original SEAS H143 midrange drivers and SEAS H254 tweeters
The cabinets are extremely solid and well constructed, and weigh close to 20kg each - they are sealed cabs so are not fussy with regards to room placement either.
Dimensions (HxWxD - CM) 68 x 31 x 38
They come with their original protective grilles (heavy fabric on wooden frame, secured with metal pressers)
The SEAS H143 is a rare mid-range driver, that was prone to foam rot. These have been repaired with new surrounds so will offer many more years of listening pleasure without the need for further attention.
RRP was somewhere between £600-£800 back then which was a huge amount (around £3,000 in today's market). They miss the bass slam/clout of modern high end speakers, but the b250s are no slouch when it comes to low frequencies - realistically portraying bass lines with ease. Coupled with this they have terrific mid-range / upper detail retrieval. In-short, they rival the best I have heard (costing many times more).
They represent terrific bang for back and are quite an easy 8 ohm load... For the money, I seriously doubt you can do better.
I know these are rare speakers so online appraisals are nigh on non-existent, so please come for a listen if you are interested.
