Seems like a stupid question - dust cover

Apologies in advance....
I have searched but not found my answer.

I still have the dust cover fitted on my Sl1200 Mk2.
When listeningtomrecords, I usually keep it closed.
I have read that ideally I should remove it to stop it picking up vibtprations from my speakers (I assume at higher volumes?)

If I remove cover from the hinges, in order to protect the face plate, can I fit hese to the cover?

Just pull the cover off - it doesn't require anything else.
The hinges are only fixed to the cover. They drop into recesses on the back edge of the deck.

At least that's the case with my deck.

I haven't played a TT with a lid on it for at least the last 15 years - the lid only ever goes on when there is no record playing taking place :)

I've haven't kept the cover on my TT's for years. Only use them when records not playing.

Back in the days of 1 gramme tracking weights, a lid well charged up with static was quite capable of lifting the arm off the record. Even if it doesn't go that far, it can still upset tracking occasionally.
