Hello everybody, thanks for having me, my choice for your enjoyment is The Strokes fifth and latest album Comedown Machine.

A brief band history taken from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Strokes),
The Strokes are an American rock band formed in New York City in 1998, consisting of Julian Casablancas (lead vocals), Nick Valensi (guitar, backing vocals), Albert Hammond, Jr. (guitar, backing vocals), Nikolai Fraiture (bass guitar) and Fabrizio Moretti (drums, percussion).

Upon the release of their debut album Is This It in 2001, the group met wide critical acclaim. Since then, the band has maintained a fan base in New York City and elsewhere in the United States, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Ireland, Canada, France, Brazil and Australia. A number of members have embarked on a variety of side projects, though they regrouped for a fifth album, entitled Comedown Machine, released on March 26, 2013.

They are one of the many indie rock bands to hail from the US at the dawn of the 21st century and helped augment the garage rock revival movement. Their debut album, Is This It, was ranked number 199 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and number 8 on Rolling Stone's 100 Best Debut Albums of All Time.

I choose this album as it is one of my favourite releases this year and is a testament to a band who have continued to improve in musicianship with each album they release. Some of the best falsetto singing on a pop album I have heard and some fantastic catchy riffs .

Some tracks sound more easy listening rather than rock

Overall it was OK

I voted 6 out of 10 :)

Hi Paul, not a bad album but not entirely sure I'd buy it so I have given 5/10.

Glad you didn't hate it 6 and 5 that's ok by me ,I will say its a grower so give it as many chances as you can bear ,
Unsurprisingly I will be giving 9/10

Postbox was bursting with CDs this morning so it may be a few days before I get round to this one.
I quite liked the first album, once I put aside the fact that they had some rather obvious influences that were being worn on their sleeves, but I haven't heard anything they've done since. So it should be an interesting exercise.

I listened to this on my walk into work and whilst it was enjoyable, I don't think it would be something I would seek out and buy. I feel the same about Room on Fire, which I own but haven't listened to much despite the good reviews. I voted 6, it is good but not outstanding IMO.

A 7 from me. To be honest I had pretty low expectations for this one as I didn't really take to their earlier material which I considered a triumph of style over substance. Their singers nasal drone on their second lp was also a bit much for me.

However I'm now prepared to look again at this band on the strength of this material. It is clear they have developed as musicians and are now heading in a more original direction. I'd give it another listen and would add to my collection if I saw it second hand.

This is growing on me, wasn't too keen at first but yeah its ok I'll give it 7/10.

I think I can hear The Cars as an influence. Not very memorable songs but Welcome to Japan is probably the best one for me. 6/10.
