A serious question: If a pair of speakers are say 62" apart, with a 60" flatscreen TV between them with the screen in line with the speaker baffles will that create some kind of pseudo baffle extension ?

I only ask as I tried this exact setup recently & some strange things happened to the sound. Could just be reflections etc... I dunno.

Yes they do, like any Dipole speaker, the bass roll-off point is a result of the baffle width. :)

JBL Everests are 1109mm (43") wide [due to their twin 15" drivers, positioned side-by-side]. I suspect that they will, erm, 'do bass'... :D

Well, guys in a group usually compare length, but here goes: ;)
Audio Physic Tempo V - 14.5cm
Yamaha NS-1000M - 37.5cm
Monitor Audio GS-10 - 20.5cm

Is it a coincidence that the sonically most "disappearing" speakers are the Audio Physic?

It seems like some people like the sound of cabinet diffraction, but as others have mentioned, it achieves the opposite of making the speakers 'disappear'. Exception is open baffles as the open backs cancel out diffraction at the cabinet edges.
