Hi all,

I have just picked it up one of these second hand and was just making up the new cables to go with it so haven't plugged it all in yet.

I do have one question though. The earth post on the back. Is this designed to be connected to something like a wall socket with a dedicated earth post on it or is it meant to be connected to other equipment such as a CD player to ground it?

Thanks,

Guy

It's there so that you can connect a product that has a separate earth lead i.e. A turntable, arm and cartridge.

Yeah of course, that was my first thought but then questioned myself after reading a manual which simply stated 'connect to an earth socket'

Thanks

They usually have a IEC socket that connects to earth via a three way mains lead.

Most source items don't need an earth as they are double insulated i.e. CD, Tuner etc.

I have an Orion mains block and a Olson Sounds Fantastic block which has the earth from my Technics attached. If you double up, you will be risking a earth loop and that is very noisy.
