I don't expect that too much of that is profit - I couldn't begin to imagine the size of the list of expenditure items involved in running a thing like that. I can't see the bands coming cheap.

It doesn't need to be have you seen what they charge to have a stall/food establishment there ,also TV brings in a few quid.

If you divide the cost of a ticket by the number of hours you are on site and then compare that to how much you would be charged for going to see any of the acts on stage, you'll find that it's the best value for money music event on the globe.

Don't get me wrong - I'm well aware of the enormous costs regarding security, medical services, provision of loos, waste disposal etc. – not to mention the performers fees. I was merely commenting on the sheer scale of the enterprise; and surprise that all 120,000 tickets were sold within an hour and a half!

That Wiki-link, Ali makes for interesting reading. Michael Eavis has said himself that Worthy Farm is first and foremost a working farm and the Festival is a sideline, but the farm always comes first. At last, a British ‘institution’ we can be proud of.

Yes indeed, a few in our group live down that way, one has been to every Glasto since the first, and another went to school with Emily Eavis. Shame he can't pull some strings to get us all our tickets!
