Audio Counsel opened in 1983 with the intention of selling the best music systems – that’s still our goal today.

We are a small independent Hi-Fi dealer, by choice, run by people who have a genuine passion for music. We believe the strength in our business is the relationship we build with our customers. Many of our customers have shopped with us for over 25 years. In a recent Naim survey, our business had one of the most loyal customer followings of any Naim dealer.

We believe business is about relationships. Being small enables us to invest time in you and your equipment. This gives us time to listen to a wide range of products and choose the ones that are truly exceptional. It also allows us time to invest in you and your needs, be that in the demonstration room, the installation, or providing the best after sales support.

It takes a certain flair of real insight to make things simple again.

With over 25 years knowledge and expertise we understand how to get the very best from your system. There is a real art to getting the true performance from a product. Anybody can sell a piece of equipment. Where we add value is the time spent in the demonstration room with products finding their true musical potential. This enables us to discover combinations of products that produce a sound that is truly magical. Such combinations include Shahinian Loudspeakers with Dynavector Amplifiers, Zu Audio Loudspeakers with Audion Valve Amplifiers.

Simply buying the most expensive products and accessories does not guarantee the most musical performance. It is a careful choice of products and components. Over the years we have discovered elements in the set up of systems that flaunt conventional Hi-Fi wisdom. We have witnessed the increased use of spikes, mains purifiers, isolation platforms etc which can add an artificial feel to the sound. We believe a music system should produce music that is dynamic, involving, rich in texture, organic in sound and ultimately enjoyable to listen to. The elements of setup we have discovered have an important impact on the musicality of the system & enable you to get the most out of your music collection.

We only sell by demonstration.

At Audio Counsel we believe there is no substitute for hearing – that’s why everything we sell is via demonstration. Obviously, reviews are a useful means of gauging the industry’s opinion of a particular product, but you must remember these ore only opinions. The only way to truly understand the product you are interested in is to come along and listen for yourself.

Demonstrations are conducted in a calm and relaxed environment conducive to listening to music. At Audio Counsel we believe that you should be allowed as much time as necessary to find the perfect product for you. We simply ask you to call us and arrange an appointment for a demonstration at your convenience, is necessary we can arrange a home demonstration.

Relaxed shop environment conducive to listening to music and free parking opposite.

The shop is located away from the hustle and bustle of a busy high street in Saddleworth, conveniently close to both Lancashire and Yorkshire with easy access to the motorway. When you arrive, parking is easy and you’re in the right frame of mind to listen. We hope you’ll find it a calm and relaxed environment where you can leisurely listen to your favourite music on some truly inspiring music systems.

If you want to make a day out of it there is a local cafe serving home-made food conveniently located 200 yards away from the shop. Plus our tea and coffee’s not bad either!

We offer a service to sell on your products – which means upgrading is easy and hassle-free.

If we can make the buying process as easy as possible it helps you finance a new purchase. We have invested time, money and energy into developing a strong well-established eBay reputation. We have a dedicated eBay Specialist who takes photographs of your equipment, writes the adverts, corresponds with prospective buyers and arranges shipping. This is a service we can offer to our customers and it means upgrading is easy and hassle free.

We offer free installations – this ensures you are getting the very best from your equipment.

Buying your equipment from Audio Counsel is the start of our commitment to you, not the end. We firmly believe that great customer service should come as standard, not a premium. That’s why we’re happy to install your equipment for free.

The installation is the opportunity for us to illustrate our experience. People often mistake poor performance for poor room acoustics. We would dispute this, in our experience it is poor system set or the wrong choice of components.

To us, the installation is a vital part of buying a music system. Without it we have no feedback about the system and whether it is performing to your expectations. Whether you are buying a single component or a complete system it is important we know the results.

Benefits of us installing your system:

There’s no extra charge, although we’re always grateful for a cup of tea!

It saves you time and you have the assurance of knowing the job has been done by an expert.

We can show you how to get the most out of your new product, whilst you sit back and relax.

It is good to know that Saddleworth is associated with good sound and not just for it's other macabre notoriety.
