I am a middle aged married man who has had an interest in good music and HiFi since my teens. My music tastes are varied, from punk to classical, the only music I cannot really get into is hip hop and rap.(God, am I sounding old there!)

My system at present consists of a Nad 533, Rega RB300 arm & AT-OC3, Shanling CD-T80, Project Dac, Project Head phone amp. Audio Note M-Zero pre, Audio Note P-Zero power amps, Tacima power supply conditioner, Celestion Sl600 speakers on 700 stands, Van den hull and Nordost interconnects and TCI Speaker cable.

I am currently building a Lenco turntable with a oak clad ply base. double platter, full internal rewire and separate power cable, All metal work highly polished and lacquered, An Audio mods fully tricked out Tone arm, an Expert Stylus & Cartridge Company retipped Audio Technica OC-9 and a bespoke Perspex cover all sat on highly Polished aluminium and brass feet. :smoking:

It will weigh in excess of 70Lb when it is complete :mental: and it should look and sound amazing.

This is my first ever Lenco build but I have listened to a few and they are in another league compared with more costly modern turntables. So I decide to push the boat out and really went for an all out no holds barred build within my budget, that will be my last turntable I ever have, unless I win the lottery that is! In total it will have cost about £1200, and taken nearly a year to complete  but when I have sold my other turntable, spare arm etc, I am hoping the final figure will b closer to £800 :D.

In my humble opinion, I think it would be hard to find anything that will come near it, even at double the cost, and would recommend anyone to give it a go and build one. You can get inspiration and all the help and advice you need at http://www.lencoheaven.net.;)

I have recently been introduced and seduced by open baffle speakers and was seriously gob smacked :wow: . So My next project when I have the time is to build a pair, I am sure my Wife will understand?
