Hi all
Newbie here: signed up early Sep.
Managed my welcome post 10 days ago and posted a pic the other day. Strictly though is already out of date as a week ago I became the proud owner of a VPI Scout 1 & JMW-9 tonearm. Not in commission yet as I've a few tasks to sort out beforehand (so technically my pic is still OK).
Am just wondering, could you kind people offer some suggestions for a cartridge? Especially with my other bits in mind, i.e. my little Firestone Korora phono stage and Audion Sterling valve amp.
My good buddy on AoS, as always, has sensibly suggested to just get going with something used.
Current recommendations:
Ortofon 2M Red/Blue
Goldring 2000 series
The 2000s being lower low mass will require an additional weight. Not sure I like that idea but what do I know?!
BTW, the Scout came kindly fitted with a Linn K9 which was otherwise looking for a home. Don't know much at all about this one.
So, should I look to change or roll with what I've got?
