Does anyone have any experience with this cartridge that they can pass on to me...? It is either one of these or an OM40 stylus for my OM30 cartridge. I shall be making my decision within the week.

It's a very good but often overlooked, high o/p MC. It's been around for decades (Mk.1), has had many excellent write-ups and sells in demonstrations. I have many happy Sumiko customers.

I actually have the EVO iii on my technics and it is very very good. It replaced a Lyra that got badly damaged. And apart from the insane amount of detail that the Lyra could extract from the groove, I would say the Sumiko is money very well spent!

The BPS is as different from the base BP as the BP2 is from the Pearl.

BP1 had a T-4P mount which needed packing to make it semi-rigid (BP2 is a proper 1/2" design) and mine was a bit too sparkly, even for me immediately after my Decca going faulty way back).

I'm sure the BP2 with proper body will be great and the price looks cool still. I don't think it's been reviewed though, but it should be better than the 'me too' universal DL110, which has had some alarming price increases in recent years well more than 'just' currency differences!

Yeah, I had a DL160 back in 2009 and ended up going back to my OM30 as it was far better than the Denon. I have heard reports of the BP Mk2 having a gorgeous midrange but a very stark treble which I am not sure I could live with. I'd love a truly gorgeous midrange but the remainder has to be in proportion which according to the reports, it's not. Any more thoughts please...?

Also, I have heard it has an amazing stereo image which would suit my Uni-Q speakers no end.

The SAE 1000LT & 1000E carts are amazing value for money.

Both HOMCs and the LT version, which I have, tracks like a train. Midrange or treble call it what you will can be stunning on some albums and with some phono stages it absolutely shines.

Believe that LT stands for Line Trace stylus and the E means eliptical but from what I've read both carts sound pretty much the same but the E version is about £60 cheaper.

These are brand new NOS and are sold by Thacker in Germany via e-bay so even if you buy one and don't like it you will move it on with no problem, IMO.

Just check out the reviews online.

Sorry but I will not be importing from abroad due to the additional costs incurred in doing so.

Thacker doesn't charge for posting from abroad because 'abroad' is Europe anyway they sell them from the UK too you just have to look out for them.

Hmmm... It would appear from their ebay page that they do not ship to the UK.

You could always try being a little more proactive & doing a web search for yourself for William Thacker.:)

Here ya go tho' Shaun....to save you some time, here's the link to their main Shopfront* (*Not e-bay, but will still accept paypal).http://www.williamthakker.eu/.

If you click on the little Union Jack*(*towards the top left of the homepage) that will set the web-page up for UK pricing. It's well worth saving/bookmarking as it's a good resource for cartridges & lotsa' other vinyl accessories too. Willy Thackers shop is always worth checking from time to time as they seem to offer good prices in general + the occasional cheap as chips bargain.

As others have said no issues with importing, as they're EU based & the price you see at the checkout, will be all that you will pay.

Thomann in Germany is also v good. Thomann are more Pro Audio oriented, but have a great selection of headphones at very good prices. Both suppliers mentioned seem good on delivery times etc too.

I'd like to know if the Thakker belt for the Thorens 150/160/125 series is the same thickness and compound as the official one. I've bought from these people before and have nothing but praise for their service :)

Hi Shaun I have not heard the BP 2 but I have the BP Evo on my Roksan Radius 5 and to my ears it sounds superb.

I too have an EVO III on my deck, and I also like it very much.
It's a bit scary mounting the thing up though ..... :eyebrows:
