Think I will be in the market for a mm cart. Got about £100-£150 to spend though could maybe stretch a bit further. Thinking along the lines of an ortofon or clearaudio. Not had much experience with mm's so will be a bit of a punt for me (though tried a dl110 before and wasn't a fan). Don't want a high output mc as my phono stage works well with mm and keen to experiment. It is to go on a rega based origin live arm and a lenco gl75. Let me know if you have anything kicking about.

I'm travelling today so will respond to any responses when I can over the next 24 hours.

Cheers

Mike

I have a Garrott P-77i current production which has a Boron cantilever fitted by NWA.

Is it of interest?

I have a REGA Carbon with very very low hours. I know you specifically said no HO MC's but I have a superb Dynavector 10x5 with about 100 hours.

Felt the need to point out, that the Denon DL-110 Is in fact a High Output MC cartridge.
Personally, I have still to hear a High Output MC that will get my approval... But, it's never too late... ;)

I'd recommend Benz Micro Silver (High-Output) - excellent sound

If it were my money, I'd go for a Nagaoka MP110, which is much more organic and 'analogue sounding' (in the true tradition) than any of the Ortofon MMs, especially the Red and Blue, which I find offer a somewhat cold and 'matter of fact' presentation.

Some MP110s doing their stuff:

Listen to that lovely 'solid', propulsive bass that one only gets with quality D/D and idler-driven turntables (the MP110 is also playing its part here)!

Even better if you could stretch to an MP150, which takes you into a different league altogether: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nagaoka-MP-150-cartridge-MP150-BRAND-NEW-/200830415499?pt=Turntable_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ec26cf28b

I can assure you that the MP150 represents a total bargain for £228, and in some areas outperforms some mid-market moving coils!! :trust:

Marco.

P.S Another goodie is the Goldring 2300.

Sorted guys- thanks for the responses and advice. I've gone for a Cartridge Man music maker III. Always fancied a cartridge man (though I know they can be very particular about set up) so looking forward to trying it.
