One of my minor diversions is to take photos of funny signs.

Here's a great advert for the legal profession, taken in the town of Roundup, Montana.

if you aren't already aware the problem you are suffering with is down to a dirty sensor.
if you would like some advice on sorting this problem let me know! but in the mean while dont use a cloth of any sort to clean it you will only make it 10 times worse
the way to temporaraly solve the issue would be to set the camera to apeture priority ('A' or 'AV' dependant on brand) and set the camera to a wide apeture eg 3.5 - 5.6. although this is not always practical it will lessen the spots and boomerangs.

sorry if you know all this already, i just felt i should comment based on the worry that you might try and clean you lens witha cloth and then worry that this didnt fix the problem
