Looks interesting - good review.

I would have thought an AMR DP777 the more logical DAC to compare it too, as the price is not too far apart - that would be an interesting comparison.

From the review: "Digital geeks will know what
I’m talking about when I say that
it reminds me of the old Philips
TD1541(sic)-equipped eighties CD
players, which seemed to make every
piece of music you played on them
sound dramatic – epic, even."

Yes, we do. ;)

David,

Had a listen to the DAC and Nick's phonostage in the Longdog room at Whittlebury - a very musical, liquid presentation - and it's very nicely put together.

I'd love to hear the Longdog 'reference' preamp, 'cause something tells me it would be simply amazing!

Best Wishes, Bud,

Paul.

Definitely, along with Audio Note, Consonance players, Lampizator, Audial etc....

In any case great LDA logo & always a supporter of British cottage HiFi look forward to hearing this unit. :)

If by that you mean the Little Martha pre, then yes it is. Astonishingly good.

Yes, that's the one...you have confirmed my suspicions

I've only heard it once, at a previous Owston. It's one of those bits of kit that you only need to hear for a few seconds to know it stands head and shoulders above everything else, at least that I've heard to date.

It looks almost as superb as Nick's beard on the interview pic for the review.

Indeed, sumptuous it was...will be interesting to do DAC shoot out at Owston for a bit of fun in November if we can...

I normally like to get back on the Sunday but could delay it a few hours so we can compare...

I think Martin means "like" rather than lie  I've made some real howlers using my iPad. Nick is certainly a great guy and has helped repair some of my kit in the past.

Enjoyed the last Dac shootout Neal, do you have the new Bushmaster?
Done a few upgrades to my Young and PSU, will bring it along.

Congrats on the review Nick, well deserved.

Beside the HiFi Pig recommended badge the LDA DAC has been reviewed by Jason Kennedy on his own site "The Ear" quite pleased that he likes the DAC very much.

Here is (http://www.the-ear.net/gear/longdog-audio-vdt1) the short review, a more comprehensive review will feature in Hi-Fi+ very shortly (I hope).
