Hi everyone,

I have been hanging around here for a while. Clearly a different kind of audio forum and all the better for it.

My journey? Well my first 'real' hi-fi was a Sonab 4040 amp with a Tandberg TCD310Mk2 cassette deck and Pioneer PL12 record player - can't remember the speakers but Wharfedales I think. This served me many years until CD appeared and I bought an Arcam Alpha 1. This drove upgrades of amp, speakers, etc. and now I have a Meridian Pre-Pro and Sooloos, a Roxsan Radius and a multi-channel system with various Meridian DSP speakers or B&W speakers/Chord amplifiers i I am feeling conventional.

Musical tastes: everything. Preferred source was LP but Sooloos sound quality and convenience finally convinced me that digital could work.

Hi Jon,

Welcome to AoS. Are you looking to upgrade or are you happy with your current setup?

I want to simplify. That, for me, means moving over to a full Meridian DSP system based around the 8000s. I've had a Meridian multi-channel home cinema/music system using the DSP5000s and it was terribly good but just not as capable as the B&Ws/Chord setup. The Sooloos system really does, for me, remove the digital nastiness of CD and I would like to maximise the SQ of that source. Oddly (or not), I am very satisfied with my very modest LP setup sound.
