Hi all, I just love Hi-Fi. Recent convert to 100% digital. I sold my Linn and valve Leaks and have never looked back. Digital has come a long way and got too hard to ignore. Eclectic musical taste, everything from hard rock to classical and all stops in-between. Willing to listen to anything really.

I love British Hi-Fi and own several bits and bobs. Now using Quad 34/306 driving IMF speakers. The front end is a Mission CD player (I will upgrade that first) and FLAC files on HD

Hi Bob and welcome to AoS. I too own a 306 which I drive with a Classé Audio DR5 pre. I've owned a few power amps in my time, some of which were very good, but the 306 trounces the lot. A fabulous little bundle of goodness ;)

I agree Dave, the 306 is a much overlooked little bundle of joy. Totally musical, unfussy about load and almost indestructible. It sounds just as good after 10 seconds as it does after 10 hours. I have auditioned dozens of power amps over the years but always come back to the 306. If I do replace it, it will be for the lager 405 or a 606. Thanks for replying.

So what IMF speakers are you using :)

Hi Paul, I’m a bit sad I know but I’m using a really old pair of IMF TLS80’s. I just love the way that the bass is the same at every volume level. Even at low volume the bass is proportional, a trait of transmission line speakers I believe. They are quite large and I would love to get something smaller but I have yet to find something with these properties.

Nuffink wrong with the TLS80's :) my dad had a pair of ALS40's and would still have had them now had they not disintegrated in front of his eyes!!

Yes I know what you mean; mine are well passed their sell by date. If I can’t find a replacement pair of speakers soon I may have to settle on updating the drivers.
