For a bit of a hoot I linked my Radford power amp upto my atc sca2 preamp through the unbalanced RCA available on the preamp whilst squirting the sonics through my tannoy 15" MGs. Oh dear! The lash up sounds very good for classical which is about 10% of my records but sounds pretty crap with everything else :( Synergy is definitely not in the air with that setup. So, with everything back as it was I'm now happy and content.

Thats odd... Its my experience that if something sounds good on one genre it sounds good for everything - What sort of classical are we talking here ? I can imagine something sounding awesome on choral but lacking somewhat on Led Zep

OH some prog (gentle giant), bit of Iron Maiden, some Bach / Wagner. I had a good idea that some of the stuff would sounds a bit lacking but I thought I'd lash a "new" system up out of my old kit. I only did it for a bit of fun thinking that if it sounded half decent I'd half a rethink.

Yes, I have the Radford pre and this is what I normally use ;) As mentioned I'd thought I'd lash some stuff together to see what happened.

So the Raddy with the Raddy pre in to Tannie MG's = Not good?

Hmm... Find that hard to believe myself. Did you wire your brain and ears up properly?... Maybe a dodgy connection.. lol :)

I don't think that was what happened Joe.
I get:
Radford + Radford = Good
ATC + Radford = Bad

Dont go too far away as you still have a uber crossover to design.

Why didn't you get in contact:D I'm always interested in seeing what your doing with these. I'm in the process of getting some stands made for the 15"'s and have had some upgrade work done on the Radford :eyebrows: Any chance of some pics? Can you send me a PM?
