Hi all

I've been a bit too passive on the real music front too often in my life. Recently a friend of mine revived my interest in valves & vinyl and also introduced me to the forum.

Decided it's time to get going again, before my ears give up on me.

Hard to believe it now but my first foray was 30 years ago - Rega/Quad/Mission - which was thanks to my brother who'd previously acquired his own 'proper' hifi system.

Had to sell several years later. Then nothing...

Can't believe I left it so long before starting again. I blame CD.

Roll forward to 2007 when I managed to get serious again although this time with A.N.Other alongside me so I had home constraints to think about. I considered myself lucky though when she agreed that the new rig would not have to match the wallpaper or fit inside some silly little cupboard.

Thanks to valve man above, I've recently upgraded slightly, and current situation is:
Rega P3/RB300/Elys
Firestone Korora phono
Audion Sterling integrated amplifier
Rega Apollo CD player
Rega R3 Speakers
All sitting on a Quadraspire rack

So, we're back on course...
:)

Welcome to AoS Pete. That's an interesting phono and amp combination, would love to see a photo if you have time. What's your taste in music?

I have to come clean and admit to leading Pete astray to the dark side of valves and vinyl ... :D

Hi Lawrence

Slowly getting my act together. Quick pic I took with my phone.

See if can get a better one some time.

As for music, looking back I realise I've missed out on a lot of stuff over the years...too picky for my own good in my youth. So still looking for new music, both old and current.

Not really sure about genres, but as for bands/acts, here's a bunch to start things off:
Radiohead, Hall & Oates, Ian Dury, Van Morrison, Santana, Mark Knopfler, Be-Bop Deluxe, Tears for Fears, Weather Report, Genesis, Yes, The Who, Simple Minds, Pink Floyd, ELP, Doobie Brothers, Boz Scaggs, Procol Harum, Bruce Springsteen, Steely Dan, Stone Roses, Ry Cooder.

Cheers
Pete

actually, not completely down to you Jules.

My first valve amp was the Wienbrock Hobo I got last year.
That was the very start of my current trip.
