For my soon to be upgraded Ortofon OM30 cartridge which will become an OM40, should the upgrade be a Rega P6 or Nottingham Analogue Interspace Junior...? Can anyone advise me on either of these two decks...?
The RP6 is an excellent deck and will do the job really well without ever really drawing attention to itself. The Ortofons sound good in the Rega's I've used and the OM40 is really good IMO for this arm..
My experience of NA decks starts with the excellent Spacedeck. I don't know the Interspace I'm afraid, but I'm sure it's also a fine model. Rega do seem to have a larger market presence though and good deals can be found if ultimate finish isn't your goal ;)

These two decks are polar opposites in terms of design philosophy and sound. You can only decide which is best for you by listening.

Personally, I'd go for the NA if given that choice. As much as I love Regas, you can always get an RP6 whenever you want one. The NA is a far more rare and exotic beast.
If You do go for the RP6 though, I'd look at the slight cosmetic seconds Lintone Audio and others are selling on Ebay. My mate got one and there was nowt wrong with it and you save a fair chunk. the saving would get you a very nice cartridge. If you ever sell it on, you wont lose anywhere near as much.

Years ago when I had money I had a Spacedeck with a Spacearm and a Tracer 1 cartridge which I loved for its midrange and also its construction. This alone is tempting me to the Interspace Junior but it is considerably more expensive than the Rega P6. I have a while to think about things and make a decision but as usual I may not be able to listen to them as my nearest dealer is Stamford Audio or Moorgate in Sheffield and I doubt they have both units on dem at the same time.

I'm not sure if it's even worth mentioning, but have you considered the new Analogue Works turntable? It looks a real steal and is reportedly sonically as good as some of the more tasty fletcher/NA decks, with which it shares many design principles and parts including motor and PSU.
I know Hugo (Shuggie) ordered one and so did I but mine doesn't arrive until tomorrow, so I can't really say much more right now. I will report on it once I've tried it, but I do have a very good feeling about it from the contacts I've had with Divine Audio. I know they decided to sell the first 15 at cost price and one of these is still available.
Just a thought.

Obviously we'll have to differ in a big way on this one then ;) A TD150 or 160, well set up and with a decent arm will blow a Rega out of the water!

Back in the 80s when the TD160 was popular, we always kept one on demo to pit it against the Regas. I don't recall ever selling a TD160 except when we moved on the demo units.

Each to their own. I see one of you owns a Rega and the other is a dealer who no doubt sells Rega... Thorens are no longer made AFAIK....

Correct and that is why we did numerous dems of TD160 against Rega. We could sell either, in fact there was more profit on Thorens.
Thorens turntables are still manufactured and imported by UKD.
Burn it!
Build a bridge out of it!
