Is that a Devialet on the bottom shelf?
Is that a Devialet on the bottom shelf?
It is, in the unfashionable black finish.

I'm hopeless with reviews, but will do my best.
OK, so the Devialet replaced a complicated system comprising solid state pre and phono amps, a valve power amp and a Chord DAC. I got sick of all the wires, and also got paranoid about accidentally leaving the valve amp powered up and burning the house down.
Anyway, the Devialet is great. On digital sources (CDs and Spotify) it's easily as good as the previous set-up, as well as being easier to use (simple remote, with the ability to increase volume in 0.5db steps). The surprise is the phono stage; I had qualms about this, but it easily betters the dedicated phono amp I was using, and I can tailor the phono stage if/when I change cartridges. The one thing I can't get working properly is the Air wireless software; I spent several days in the summer trying to crack it; got it working at one point, only for it to fall over again. So I'm using the Squeezebox Touch for streaming purposes.
The warm summer has meant that I haven't listened to it as much as I'd hoped; will post a longer review as the evenings lengthen and I get some longer listening sessions done!
Love the audiophile dust! Can we see the speakers, Joe? :)
Marco.

Superb... lint, fluff and dead skin makes for a quiet life. :)
How do you find the MF pre?

That's an old picture; the MF pre went a long time ago. I was underwhelmed by it, to be honest, despite the rave reviews it's received, and soon switched back to an active pre. The music through it always seemed a bit flat and lifeless.

Cheers, Joe. Are you still using the Audiovectors? :)
'Interesting' choice of decor, btw...
