Hi

Got one with a deal..but the 20 years + in the loft has taken its toll on this old beauty. It has a VERY VERY bad hum & i dont know what to do to fix it any of you vinyl buffs no how to..its a deck i would very much like to restore if i can get it working :eyebrows:

Advice would be appreciated

Is the hum coming through the speakers when connected to an amplifier or is it outwardly audible motor hum?

At a guess, I would say its an earthing issue, either from the cartridge or arm. Without actually hearing it, very hard to qualify.

Dan,

I suggest you check the earthing arrangements of the pickup arm and metalwork of the deck. From memory, both are 'earthed' via the screening of one of the signal leads from the pickup arm.
